• Relevant degree or equivalent, preferably in Construction Engineering, (Finance) Law or Finance. Focus on commercial or financial.
• A financial qualification or membership of a relevant professional institution would be an advantage.
• Experience in PPP, project finance, or in another related financial discipline; with focus on legal / commercial;
• Has previous experience of key elements of PPP (such as the principles of Project Agreements, Finance Agreements, Sub-Contracts and payment mechanisms);
• Has knowledge of reviewing and updating financial models.
• Fluent Dutch and English, additional European language like French or Spanish would be an advantage;
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and the project programme;
• Commercial acumen and negotiating ability;
• Must have ability to communicate and work with colleagues throughout the business, plus external banks, partners and clients;
• Strong communication and management;
• Problem solving ability;
• Commercial outlook and a willingness to understand and interpret contracts;
• Strong presence in meetings and ability to influence people.

INHOUD POSITIE

• To win PPP projects on terms consistent with John Laing Group policies (equity returns and risk profile);
• To promote and lead PPP projects so as to take a consortium from pre-qualification to preferred bidder and through to Financial Close;
• To head working groups within the consortium bidding organisation, taking full responsibility for the combined team efforts;
• To manage live investments, including ad-hoc projects associated with them (re-financings, restructurings, disposals);
• To support secondary acquisitions of existing investments.
• Develop a partnership approach with the client and co-investing sponsors, involving all parties;
• Be the lead manager and representative for all aspects of John Laing’s input and involvement in the bid team (where a co-sponsor leads the bid team);
• Lead the bid team on behalf of investing sponsors, working within the framework of agreed sponsor strategies (where John Laing leads the bid team);
• Fully understand the risks on the project and control the transfer of those risks;
• To work with co-investors, the service provider and advisors to produce an integrated bid submission which meets the Client’s requirements;
• Manage the bidding process including establishing budgets, controlling expenditure, programme management and co-ordinating the activities of the whole team;
• Negotiate contracts to Financial Close;
• Represent John Laing in managing the investment through the operational phase of the project.

Base salary depends on experience, along with a bonus potential as a percentage of base salary. There is a generous benefits package including annual leave allowance, annual lease car allowance and a stakeholder pension scheme with spouse’s pension.
